Hardtkopfsteig O3

The hiking trail is very well signposted. Always follow the hiking sign O3.

The hike starts at the large signpost in the center of Oberkirchen (by the Sparkasse bank). We cross the zebra crossing, keep right, and turn left uphill onto "Hardtweg." The path takes us to the forest edge. There we go right/straight up the small path, cross the hiking trail twice, and each time follow the path uphill. At the third hiking trail, we turn left and immediately right again, and continue on the path to the summit cross on the Hardtkopf. From the summit, the path leads downhill via a trail. At a junction (small detour possible) with views of Holthausen and Bad Fredeburg, the path leads us left downhill.

Detour: If we go straight at this junction, after a few meters we reach a cross with a bench. After a break, we return to the junction and follow the excellent hiking trail (right downhill).

We cross the next hiking trail and continue downhill on the path. At a bench with an information sign, we turn right and at the end of the path left. At the next junction, we walk right and on the asphalt path straight ahead, past the white cross with a shelter. After a few meters, we turn left onto a path. Here we also find the black hiking sign of the Rothaarsteig spur "Sorper Panoramapfad." The path leads uphill after some time. At the top, we go left and follow the path through the rock formation "Knollen." Behind the quarry, we cross the hiking trail again and follow the path downhill. After a while, we reach the Knollenhütte. It is open for refreshments on weekends and public holidays in good weather.

At the hut, we continue left. The path takes us back toward Oberkirchen. At the next opportunity, we go straight, then stay on the path and take the next path right. In a curve, the hiking trail leads left with a slight incline. At the end of the path overlooking Oberkirchen, we turn left. After a few meters, the path leads right back into the village to our starting point.

You can reach Oberkirchen by bus line S 40. The stop "Kirche" is located directly at the starting point of the hiking route.
