At the end of the 18th century, robber captain Johannes Karaseck (Jan Nepomuk Karasek) and his pikemen unsettled the southern Upper Lusatia.

The ring route leads through forest and fields. It is accompanied by information boards that recall the locations of the events at that time (including Karasekschenke, Dreieckersteine, former robber spruce, overgrown enclave boundary ramparts, Kreibichschenke) and lead to magnificent viewpoints.

Leutersdorf, Seifhennersdorf, Neugersdorf: circular hiking routes

Karasek took advantage of the confused border relations of this time and operated from the former Bohemian enclave Niederleutersdorf (1635-1849). To this day, the legend of the "noble robber", who took from the rich and gave to the poor, is still alive in popular tradition. Today, two circular routes recall the formerly eventful time: the Pascher route Leutersdorf (11 km) and the Karasek route (3.5 km), which also touches a part of the local boundaries of Neugersdorf and Seifhennersdorf. Both lead through a charming landscape. Not only historically interesting boundary stones at the former border of the Bohemian enclave can be discovered, but also the former robber's nest, the Kreibichschenke. Guided tours on the Karasek ring route are offered by the Leutersdorf route warden and the Karasek museum Seifhennersdorf.
