Klima-Radelroute-Bünde

The Climate Cycle Route is the fourth themed tour through Bünde and the surrounding area. So far, the city of Bünde has published the Farmers' Baths Cycle Route, the Tobacco Cycle Route and the Monument Cycle Route. The stations on the Climate Cycle Route focus on climate change and the protection of our climate. The aim of climate protection is to reduce the speed and impact of global warming, or even better, to stop it and thus the consequences of warming, such as rising sea levels due to sea ice and glacier melting, increasing weather extremes, the growth of drought zones and species extinction.

One of the main approaches to climate protection is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, caused for example by energy consumption in road traffic. The bicycle-friendly city of Bünde focuses on climate-friendly local mobility with environmentally friendly means of transport. The use of renewable energies for energy generation, for example wind turbines or photovoltaics, offers a considerable reduction in the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide compared to fossil fuels. Of course, energy savings also help to protect the climate, such as the passive sports hall in the north school complex, which only consumes 15 kilowatt hours per square meter per year. On the other hand, climate protection involves the targeted expansion of forests, wetlands or floodplains that absorb the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. Examples on the Climate Cycle Route include the renaturation of the Gewinghauser Bach stream, the Elseaue nature reserve and the reforestation on Stauffenbergstraße. The Climate Cycle Route is a circular route of around 33 kilometers in length. It starts at the cycle station at Bünde railroad station. There you will also find display cases with general and current information about cycling in Bünde as well as dates and events. The Climate Cycle Route first leads into the Werfer Bruch and then around Bünde city center through the districts of Werfen, Ahle, Ennigloh, Spradow, Südlengern, Bustedt and Hunnebrock, with detours to the municipalities of Kirchlengern and Hiddenhausen.
