Experience Lippe - from the Hanseatic town of Lemgo to the Lippe hiking peak, the Köterberg

58 km long hiking trail from Lemgo, via Dörentrup, Barntrup, Blomberg, Schieder to Lügde.

The starting point is Lemgo's historic town center. Past Brake Castle, a moated castle from the Weser Renaissance and today the seat of the Lippe Regional Association, and the former Walkenmühle mill, the route leads through the Begaauen nature reserve towards Dörentrup-Wendlinghausen. There you will find the Dörentrup Innovation Center, which, as a NatourEnergieZentrum, brings the tension between nature and sustainable energy production to life.

From Wendlinghausen Castle, built at the beginning of the 17th century in the Weser Renaissance style, through the tranquillity of the Blomenstein Forest, you reach Selbeck, a district of Barntrup. Along the mountain border trail between Barntrup and Blomberg, over the Beckerberg, the route heads south at the refuge towards the carnation town of Blomberg. The historic town center of Blomberg, Blomberg Castle and, above all, the monastery church tell the story of Lippe's cultural history.

Through the village of Siekholz, the trail leads to Schieder and the Schiedersee lake. Schieder Castle with its landscaped park and the historic avenue of lime trees form the center of the village. The trail leads through the former ramparts of Alt Schieder, steeply up to the Kahlenberg tower. The refuge at the Kammmolchteich pond in the Schwalenberger Mörth nature reserve is a wonderful resting place.

The "stork village" of Elbrinxen, first mentioned in a document in 1219 as Elmerinchusen, is home to a large stork colony, and individual storks are also looked after here in winter.

Along the millrace of the Ilsenbach stream, up to the Distelalm above the Lügde-Henkenbrink district, and then downhill, you reach the late medieval Falkenhagen monastery complex. Via the idyllically situated Silbersieksteich pond, past the Lügde districts of Hummersen and Köterberg, the destination, the "landscape cinema" on the Köterberg, the highest elevation in Lippe at just under 500 m, is approaching.
