Snakes up through the forest to Seelisberg. Walkers are rewarded with a unique lake and mountain view. Historic paths lead past viewing platforms to Beroldingen Castle and then 960 steps down to Bauen.

The boat journey from Brunnen to the Rütli station takes around 10 minutes. The Swiss Path starts at Gasthaus Rütli and leads you mostly through the forest with numerous bends up to Seelisberg, which is around 350 metres higher. If you need refreshments, you can choose from various restaurants in the village.

The route leads past the parish church and the Maria Sonnenberg pilgrimage chapel to the upper part of the village of Seelisberg. This opens up a marvellous view of Lake Uri and the Reuss delta. You can discover the Rütli meadow right at your feet.

Just before the freshly scented Tannwald forest, a children's playground invites you to linger. You soon reach Beroldingen Castle with its magnificent view over Lake Uri. From here, it's a gentle descent to the Wyler ‘Wyssig’ and then over 960 stone steps on an old mule track down quite steeply to the Mediterranean Bauen.
