Farewell match for Timo Beermann

He grew up in Ostercappeln, developed into a professional footballer at VfL and ended his career in a VfL jersey as captain at the Bridge after a long spell in the second division in Heidenheim - after many years full of passion, commitment, countless headers and unforgettable moments, the floodlights of the Bridge will go on for Timo Beermann for the last time in his jersey on Friday, October 10, 2025. This will be followed by the Purple and White Night.

In total, Timo Beermann played 167 competitive matches for the VfL professionals, as well as countless games in the Purple & White's youth academy and 62 games for the second team. A rarity in today's professional soccer: the Ostercappeln-born central defender only played for two clubs in his professional career - 1. FC Heidenheim in the 2nd Bundesliga and, of course, for his VfL Osnabrück, which he led as captain on the bridge for the last three years.

On October 10, 2025, Eule, who had to end his professional career after last season due to an injury, will officially say goodbye! On the legendary Friday evening, the magical floodlights of the bridge will shine when the "VfL Allstars" and the "Eule & Friends" team clash in a farewell match from 19:00. The VfL team will be peppered with many familiar faces, some cup and promotion heroes and lots of fan favorites. The main sponsor of this team is VfL's main sponsor, SO-Tech, who will not only be present on the chest of the jersey. The opposing side is made up of many current and former professional footballers who have accompanied Timo Beermann's career in various positions - former teammates, opponents, friends and acquaintances of the legendary number 33. This team is supported by Veregge & Welz as the main sponsor. We'll be revealing exactly who is involved in the coming weeks - stay tuned! Small spoiler: Gaetano Manno and Sven Köhler will be among those lacing up the soccer boots, as will Arne Feick and John Verhoek.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be able to say goodbye to the fans at a game like this. I feel it's a great honor, a farewell game is not a matter of course. The last farewell game was given to record-breaking player Joe Enochs - that shows the special circle I'm allowed to join," says Timo Beermann. "On the one hand, I'm looking forward to this evening with melancholy, it will certainly be emotional. At the same time, I'm looking forward to it and to seeing lots of familiar faces in the stands and on the pitch."

"For many people, Timo is something that is no longer so common and that soccer fans long for: A figure of identification who can look back on so many years of a successful career at just two clubs and who has always remained connected to his home country and his home club. A footballer who always led the way on the pitch and in the dressing room, who threw himself into every duel without sparing himself but with great fairness. A competitor whose special motivation could literally be seen in his eyes. At the same time, he never gave up his down-to-earth manner and never sought publicity. Serving and working was more important to him than the limelight or making a grand entrance off the pitch. This makes it all the more important for us to give him this stage and offer him a worthy farewell together with many spectators. He embodies the path of a boy from the region who has developed in our NLZ and played 142 second division games. This not only deserves recognition and respect, but in our eyes also an official farewell game - under floodlights, of course, and once again as captain on the bridge," emphasized VfL managing director Dr. Michael Welling.

All VfL fans can mark the date in their calendars: "Eule" will make his final flight under the legendary floodlights of the Bremer Brücke from 7:00 pm during the international break on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Ticket sales will begin on Tuesday, September 2. First, season ticket holders have the right to secure their regular seat. This will be followed by members and season ticket holders (September 6), before tickets go on sale to the general public (September 9).
