The fairest and most exciting music competition in Osnabrück enters its second round on 3 August 2024 in the Haus der Jugend Osnabrück. From 8 pm, 6 bands will present 3 songs that have been specially created for the evening. Each song will be a world premiere and the audience will select the winning entry with a jury. For the second edition, FOKUS e.V. has been able to attract six high-calibre bands from Osnabrück, who will take on the task of working on a song in one day with a second band drawn at random. Each act brings its own style to the event, making for an unforgettable evening:
Ghost of Baltimore is grunge pop, an adrenaline-fuelled and high-energy wave carried by dynamics, hard guitar riffs and emotional vocals. While the Osnabrück rapper Lynger polarises in an extravagant way amidst banal, generic German rap songs with authentic and humorous lyrics. Harambee is an Afro fusion band from Osnabrück, which means a mixture of African melodies and rhythms fused with European pop. In contrast, Murks describe themselves as the result of an AI generator fed with German 80s music à la Grönemeyer and Westernhagen, then flavoured with a pinch of punk rock from Die Ärzte and Madsen and finally supplemented by images of a keytar, a trumpet and a beer.
As a young artist, emgee writes lyrics that touch her, melodies that captivate her, and goes in search of herself in the music. The music of MacroevoLucian, on the other hand, is in the realm of synthwave, but offers unusually danceable beats for this genre.
SingSangSong will also prove in 2024 that there are no musical boundaries and will exceed all expectations. Because the whole event is a big game, instead of a fixed admission price, there will be dice to play for entry. The event is characterised by artistic cooperation rather than competition. Nevertheless, a winning entry will be chosen at the end based on the votes of all spectators. Last year, singer-songwriter Bridgehouse and metal-punk band Cover Identity won with the song "Counter".
