Traditional sausage day at the Rahden museum farm

Exhibition

Season finale 2025 - Traditional sausage day

On this day, the Schröder abattoir will be demonstrating from 1 p.m. how a pig is cut up and butchered using traditional techniques. Work will be carried out in stages so that as many interested visitors as possible can watch. Of course, the Schröder butcher's shop and Feinkost Hofmann will also be offering delicious food on this day of action. In addition, as always, the Förderverein bakes delicious cakes in the historic stone oven and the sheep farm "Schafverliebt" offers sheep's milk ice cream from its own production.

The spinning group is active in the Lütken Hus and the Kleinendorf knitters show their craft behind the old barn. Autumnal stalls also invite you to stroll around the museum courtyard. Younger visitors can look forward to a great craft program, the popular bouncy castle and fresh waffles.

Further highlights will include a demonstration of sauerkraut preparation and the sale of snap beans. The latter were already sliced and pickled in the summer. Of course, other vegetables such as pumpkins and potatoes, honey, blackberry juice etc. from our own cultivation will also be sold on this day.

In addition, as on every action day, the Rossmühle will be in operation every hour from 13:00.

From 14:30 - 16:30 the Shanty Choir Dümmersee will provide musical entertainment.
