Farm shop
Here you can enjoy freshly smoked trout every day from a company with a 30-year tradition.
The fish farm in Altenbrak began 30 years ago as a "state-owned business" and has now been part of the Zordel company and the region's gastronomic and tourist attractions for 20 years.

When the business was opened in 1981 by experts in a state-owned business, up to 120 tons of fish a year were sold on the store and restaurant tables. After a collapse in 1990, the business was rescued a year later by Hans Zordel, who took over the business.

The old Altenbrak watermill was purchased and converted into a beautiful building. Today it serves as a fish production facility. There is also a rearing facility in Rübeland/ Susenburg and a specialty restaurant in Blankenburg/ Michaelstein. The main customers for the fish are the restaurants in the region.

160 tons of fish in the form of brown, rainbow and golden trout are now eaten and sold every year.

The following products have been awarded the "Typically Harz" regional brand:
  • Brook trout
  • Rainbow trout
  • Carp
  • (all fish fresh or smoked)
