The Kreuzkirche on Kaiserplatz is the largest Protestant church on the Middle Rhine and, with 1,000 seats, also the largest church in Bonn. It was consecrated in 1871 as a city and community church for the constantly growing number of Protestant citizens.
Since 2014, the church pavilion, the new building of the oldest open church café in Germany, has been located directly in front of the Kreuzkirche and is the centre of the city church work of the Protestant church district of Bonn.
