Old Catholic Church of Peace

The Old Catholic Peace Church in Essen's city centre, just opposite the Old Synagogue, was designed by city architect Albert Erbe and built from 1914 to 1916.
Exceptional features include the interior design by Jan Thorn Prikker - restored after destruction during the Second World War - and the Art Nouveau altar by A.O. Holub. Holub.

By public transport:
From DB station "Hauptbahnhof" or S-Bahn station "Hauptbahnhof".

About 10 minutes' walk through the pedestrian zone in a northerly direction (city centre) = Kettwiger Straße, past the cathedral and St. John's Church to the junction "Zwölfling", here walk down on the right-hand side to the large crossroads: opposite the Old Synagogue rises the Old Catholic Peace Church.

by bus or tram (U) with all lines going to Porscheplatz (e.g. lines 111, 106, 107) to the next stop "Rathaus".



By car:
Leave all motorways in the direction of "Zentrum" (A 52: "Essen Süd / Essen Zentrum") and drive to "City-Ring-Ost". On the City-Ring, take the "Rathaus" lane. This leads to the Old Synagogue (with its green dome visible from afar), which is located in the immediate vicinity of the Old Catholic Peace Church at the junction of Steeler Straße and Bernestraße.
