The Ostesee is located around 3 km north of Neuhaus, on the border between the district of Cuxhaven and the district of Stade. It is the oxbow of the Oste and was created when the Ostesperrwerk was built in 1967 and the Oste was diverted. The northern part of the lake, around 15 out of 29 hectares, is part of a nature reserve and may not be entered. The Ostesee is very rural and quiet.
At the water skiing & wakeboarding facility, you can relax and watch international champions train, but of course you can also go water skiing & wakeboarding yourself. If you prefer things a little less fast-paced, you can hire a SUP board and paddle around the Ostesee away from the water ski facility or hire a beach chair right by the water.
On the western shore right next to the water ski facility, there is also an unguarded bathing area with a small sandy beach, jetty and sunbathing lawn. Or you can use the other side of the shore to relax at fishing.
In the neighboring Natureum Niederelbe, where you can learn a lot about the Oste / Elbe natural area, you can also take a nice walk around the lake
