Church
The former Pauline church was consecrated in 1331 as the church of a Dominican monastery. In the Middle Ages, it was a well-known place of pilgrimage because relics of the important church teacher Thomas Aquinas were kept here.
The first Lutheran service in Göttingen was celebrated in this church in 1529, as was the ceremonial inauguration of the university (1737). Today, the church is part of the Lower Saxony State and University Library (since 1812), and the library hall, designed according to historical models, offers space for changing exhibitions.

The Lichtenberg monument by Prof. Volker Neuhoff (1992) and the sculpture "Butt im Griff" by Günter Grass (2004) are located in the academy courtyard.

In addition, there is a functional replica of the Gauss-Weber telegraph by Reinhold Wittig (2011), which can be used to send messages via Morse code to a second station in front of the Historical Observatory.
