In the middle of the Eifel National Park lies the 100-hectare site of the former NS Ordensburg Vogelsang.
Once a training center of National Socialism - today it is a diverse place of experience.
The centerpiece of the site is the "Forum Vogelsang IP". In this striking building, you can choose between two very different permanent exhibitions:
The award-winning exhibition "Bestimmung: Herrenmensch" of the NS documentation focuses on the history of the site.
In the experience exhibition "Wildnis(t)räume" of the National Park Center Eifel , you can experience the diverse nature of the surrounding Eifel National Park with all your senses.
Both exhibitions are open to visitors year-round.
Guided tours of the site (approximately 90 minutes, registration required) take place throughout the year.
Between May and October, it is also possible to climb the Vogelsang Tower. The ascent of 177 steep steps rewards you with an impressive panoramic view of the site and the Eifel National Park.
After so much activity, you can relax in the panoramic gastronomy with Eifel specialties and enjoy the view of the Urftsee.
Over regional hiking routes such as the Eifelsteig and the Wilderness Trail run across the site.
A spectacular destination is the abandoned settlement of Wollseifen, about two kilometers away.
On Sundays, a free ranger tour into the national park area starts. The meeting point is the giant ranger hat.
About the history of Vogelsang:
Vogelsang is now an "International Place", but it is also a special site of European history. Where, starting in 1936, the political offspring of a criminal system was to be trained, today modern exhibition and educational centers are located. After World War II, the site was used for decades as part of the Belgian military training area "Camp Vogelsang". It was not until 2006 that the civilian use of the site, surrounded by the newly established Eifel National Park, began.
Dogs welcome!
Dogs are allowed in the NS documentation, in the visitor center, and in the shop, as well as throughout the entire outdoor area and must be kept on a leash.
