The Wesermühle has been a family business since 2008.
One of the main aims of the Wesermühlen team is to help increase the cultivation of native, traditional oil plants. Camelina (Camelina sativa) is rarely cultivated today and the seed for the oil comes from Bioland cultivation in Germany. This was reason enough for the Marketinggesellschaft der niedersächsischen Land- und Ernährungswirtschaft e. V. to award this oil the title of "Culinary Ambassador of Lower Saxony 2013".
The Wesermühle is located in the former windmill in the Wulmstorf district of Thedinghausen. After it had stood empty for years and the outbuildings were partly used as storage space, the Wesermühle GbR, an oil mill that had been based nearby for 10 years, found a new home in the imposing building. After a short conversion phase, 6 mills started production at this historic site in 2017. Since then, 15 different certified organic oils have been pressed here from raw materials partly from the region. A tour of the production facility is usually possible by prior arrangement.
