The hike crosses the border between Germany and the Czech Republic and offers a perfect combination of sporting challenge and breathtaking Ore Mountains scenery.

The trail begins in the spa town of Oberwiesenthal. The highest town in Germany is the starting point of the almost 18.6 km long border experience. After the start, the route leads steadily uphill and downhill on forest paths and mountain trails, always accompanied by the character of the ridge region and the nearby national border. If you wish, you can take a short detour to the Amtssteigfelsen, which offers incredible views of the region.

Passing the Bächelhütte and the Börnerwiese nature reserve, you reach Tellerhäuser and can take a break at the "Zwergentreff". Now you cross the border into the Czech Republic. The route continues through dense forests and along marked hiking trails towards the village of Boží Dar (Gottesgab). There is plenty to discover along the way, as hikers are on the Christkindlweg trail. The village of Boží Dar is picturesquely situated on the Erzgebirge plateau and offers a welcome change: culture, history and a typical Erzgebirge atmosphere await you here.

Finally, you return to Germany and the idyllic Zechengrund. At its end, hikers reach Oberwiesenthal again on the left, where they have the opportunity to take a stroll and stop for a bite to eat.

Directions

The hike begins in the center of the spa town of Oberwiesenthal (Germany's highest mountain town) and initially leads uphill on Vierenstraße towards K1, the lift and Prjiut in the direction of "Fichtelberg Base Camp" (formerly Sportbaude Waldeck). A large part of the trail follows the signs "Jens-Weißflog-Tour". At the base camp, turn left onto the Ausrückeweg and then left to the Hirschfalzhütte. Follow the Jens Weissflog tour through the forest until you reach the road and the Bächelhütte. Cross the road and hike downhill to the Zwergentreff. From there, walk to the border and cross it. Turn left at the next junction and do NOT follow the signs for the Jens Weißflog Tour. Instead, keep left. After a short time you will come across the markings again. This is because the Jens Weißflog Tour makes an approx. 7-kilometer loop at this point and then rejoins your hike. So you follow the markings again and after a short time you reach Boží Dar. The hike takes you through the village and over the border again. Immediately after the border, deviate from the markings and turn right. Continue through the Zechengrund and via Keilbergstraße, Zechenstraße and Büttnerweg back towards the starting point.
