The varied but predominantly flat landscape invites every cyclist but also hikers. Even Wilhelm Busch could not resist this attraction, and so he was a guest in Hunteburg several times between 1894 and 1898. He liked it so much that he wrote to a friend on his first visit: "It was quite a pleasant area where I spent the last few days, with beautiful weather to boot. Individual farmsteads; painted white; fresh green rye fields all around; a chain of blue hills in the distance ....."
