Not against the current, not with the current:

Almost always at a right angle to it, you travel on the "Brückenradweg" (Bridge Cycle Route), which connects Osnabrück and Bremen on two parallel paths. Between the two Hanseatic cities lie three nature parks with pristine moors and forests, numerous historic sites with exciting history, and of course many bridges. Some are historically interesting, others architecturally appealing. But only the Ocean Bridge just before Bremen leads to America.

You might easily end up like the Bremen Town Musicians who never reached the Weser River. Because already at the start of the Brückenradweg in Osnabrück, there is so much to see that you could almost forget to start riding. The Town Hall of the Peace of Westphalia at the historic market square, for example, the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Center, and the museum for the painter Felix Nussbaum designed by star architect Daniel Libeskind. Not to forget the Museum at Schölerberg, which offers an exciting view of the first stages of your route – and is therefore worth a small detour.

The exhibition vividly shows how the landscapes of the region were formed over 300 million years of earth history. Hard to believe that tropical oceans and Ice Age glaciers played a role.
Also, in the Dümmer and Wildeshausen Geest nature parks, exhibitions provide background information about the landscape experience. This way, you can enjoy the route from Germany's northwesternmost mountain range past the Dümmer Lake and over the Ice Age geest ridges around Wildeshausen to the typically North German marshland just before Bremen even more intensely. A must for history enthusiasts is the site of the Varus Battle. In the further course of the route, it is not always about world history, but in the Linnenschmidt Watermill and the Iron Age House in Venne, you experience everyday life of past eras up close.

You will learn that Twistringen once was the heart of the straw processing industry. Export hits were drinking straws and hats – which is commemorated by the world's largest circular saw hat with a diameter of five and a half meters.

As for those who gained their money dishonestly, you can see in the former Arsenal of the Citadel of Vechta: The Prison Museum shows the 900-year history of penal systems. Although not to the Land of the Free, but only to the Harpstedt district of America leads the Ocean Bridge shortly before Bremen. Nevertheless, an impressive structure, as it offers the only opportunity to cross the swampy Delme Valley on dry feet. From a safe height, it offers fascinating insights into the wetland biotope. From the swamp onto the pavement of Bremen's old town – if the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster knew what they missed here: The bronze statue of the Town Musicians stands right next to the famous Bremen Town Hall. Enjoy the diverse offerings of Bremen's gastronomy. Well fortified, you can then cycle back to Osnabrück via the second route.
