A small-scale mosaic of habitats characterizes the landscape around the Gelängebach. Here you can experience the great diversity of the Medebach Bay in the smallest of spaces.

The nature trail takes you into the area west of Medebach over the Gelängeberg and the Medeloner Höhe through the Gelängebachtal valley. On this small section of the FFH area, you can experience the entire diversity of the Medebach Bay. Rare bird species such as the great grey shrike and red-backed shrike have found refuge in the small-scale cultural landscape. 16 stations on a themed trail accompany nature-loving hikers.

The skylark sings its characteristic flight song above the richly structured cultural landscape. Sometimes the shy black stork circles over the Gelängebachtal valley. They find food in the clear waters of the Gelängebach stream, which is also home to dragonflies such as the blue-winged damselfly.

Rare plant species can be found along the edge of the path and on the areas that are mown late or only grazed by a few animals, such as the corn saxifrage, the bright pink heather carnation or the musk mallow.
