Experience nature on the edge of the nature reserve

Follow the signs from the Elberadweg to the Gohrischheiderundweg. Passing through a forest, you will reach Jacobsthal. Here, hidden away, is the Saxon Triangulation Column. The route continues to Brandenburg. Here you can visit the prisoner of war camp Stalag IV B. You will pass through the villages of Kosilenzien and Kröbeln. Kosilenzien invites you with its gastronomy to stay and rest. On the way to Kröbeln the "Burgwall zu Cosilenzien", which was built between the late Bronze Age and the early Iron Age near the village, is fascinating. The route leads back to Saxony to the small village of Nieska. Here, too, small restaurants offer cyclists the opportunity to rest before continuing through the idyllic pond area of Spansberg to Tiefenau. The largest village on the Gohrischheiderund route is Zeithain. Once there, the fire department museum, the military history collection and the memorial Ehrenhain Zeithain invite you to learn about the history of the region.

Directions

The tour starts at the Saxon Fire Brigade Museum. Keep left, past the obelisk and follow the road alongside the Bundeswehr equipment depot. Continue straight on into the forest path and always ride alongside the tracks. At Jacobstahl station, keep right briefly onto "Zur Heide" and then immediately left again onto the road "Am Wald". After crossing the tracks, continue straight ahead on Gohrische Straße to Jacobstahl. Continue straight on through the village and at the end of the village, after the triangular column, turn right onto a forest path "Schäferei". At the next junction, turn diagonally right onto the Elbe cycle path, which leads to Gaitzschhäuser. After leaving the village, turn right at the next junction in the direction of Fichtenberg, then immediately left again onto Lange Straße via Mühlberger Straße and left again to Altenau. Turn right here onto the L671 and leave the village heading north. After about one kilometer, turn right and drive through the memorial site of the former Mühlberg camp.

After the memorial, turn left and follow the signs through the Neuburxdorf settlement to Kosilenzien. At the end of the village, turn right along the castle rampart, continue along field paths along the Rödergraben and cycle along the small Röder towards Kröbeln. Keep right there to reach Nieska via Mühlberger Straße, Lindenstraße and Riesaer Straße.

At the end of Nieska, turn left onto Spansberger Straße and cycle to Spansberg. Turn left again here via "Am Anger" to Dorfstraße and then turn right. Continue along Dorfstraße, which then turns into Teichweg, which leads directly into the pond area. At the end of the Teichweg you reach Tiefenau. Cycle past the brewery pond on the left and then turn right onto the main road B169. Pass the castle church and leave the main road after 200 meters on the right to reach the village of Heidehäuser. Continue along Waldstraße on forest and field paths along the Gohrischheide, then turn left onto Kasernenstraße and continue straight on past the solar park back to the starting point.
