Directions

“Next stop Roisdorf”: that’s the starting signal for this route. At the Roisdorf fountain, turn right onto the cycle path “Am Bähnchen”. Along the railway line, warm up for about 3 km for the climb onto the plateau. Then it starts: to reach the plateau, put good power on the pedals and steadily spin your way to the edge of Impekoven. There you reach the first field paths. After passing through Witterschlick, it gets wooded. Typical for the area: long asphalt straights take you car-free through gently sloping woodland areas. A paradise for pedalists who want to ride at a steady rhythm without stopping or orienting themselves. After about 10 km of forest riding, you reach the small village of Villiprost with the Gudenau water castle (visit possible, check opening times). In a 10 km long loop, you circle the radome, a widely visible landmark of Wachtberg, on paved field paths. Then through Klein Villip; afterwards a large solitary tree helps you orient yourself: here you turn right. In the village of Adendorf, several places to stop and rest await you, closely followed by Münchhausen castle. In a zigzag course, you cross the A 565 on more lonely field paths and make a nice final approach on long straights towards Rheinbach. If needed, take a closer look there at the castle tower and a restored section of the famous Roman aqueduct from the Eifel to Cologne. There are also good places to stop in Rheinbach; after all, more than half of the route lies behind you. Your return trip to the starting point takes you again through the heavenly straights of the fertile plateau. Fields as far as the eye can see. As soon as you have passed the turquoise quartz lake in Witterschlick, you can either roll to the start point at Roisdorf halt or give it a good sprint now and then.
