The city of Coswig has developed a dedicated website for the KARRAS circular route.

Here you will find all detailed information and event notices about the circular route:

www.karras-rundweg.de

The hike can start in Coswig-Spitzgrund or alternatively in Moritzburg.

This description starts in Coswig at Spitzgrundteich. The route leads along the valley path by the Lockwitzbach and Spitzgrundteich to the historic Kreyern forester's house. From Kapellenteich, you reach the picturesque Ilschenteich and arrive at the intersection S81 access / L-path.

Here you can take the shortcut to the Seerosenteich. This shortens the circular hike to 9 km. The complete hiking trail leads through the Moritzburg district Auer, the Münchhauwiese, and the Steinernen Weg to Moritzburg Castle. Here you leave the Friedewald forest.

Through the town center of Moritzburg, you reach the Eisenberg district, the founding village of the Moritzburg community. Over the Luchsberg with impressive views from Moritzburg Castle over the small hills landscape to the heights of the Elbe region, you return to the Friedewald forest.

In the St. Ulrich tunnel, you pass under the state road S81, hiking via the L-path and X-path towards Seerosenteich.

Both hikes then follow the common route again. From the picturesque Seerosenteich, you reach the fork path to the viewpoint Hoher Stein. After a magnificent view, the path leads over Spitzgrundborn back to Spitzgrundteich, the starting point of the hike.

Start the hike from Moritzburg:

Start the hike at the castle parking lot towards the historic Gasthof Adam. From Gasthof Adam, follow the signposts. Past the town center, you reach the Eisenberg district, the founding village of Moritzburg. Over Luchsberg with its impressive views from Moritzburg Castle over the small hills landscape to the heights of the Dresden Elbe region, you return to the Friedewald forest. In the St. Ulrich tunnel, you pass under the state road S81. After about 500 meters, you can shorten the circular hike to 9 km and reach Ilschenteich near the Auer district, rejoining the KARRAS circular route towards Moritzburg.

The 17 km hiking route leads along the L-path and X-path towards Coswig. From the picturesque Seerosenteich, you reach the fork path to the viewpoint Hoher Stein. After a magnificent view into the Meißen region, the hike leads over Spitzgrundborn to Spitzgrundteich, the Coswig starting point of the hike.

On the way back to Moritzburg, you walk along Spitzgrund by the Lockwitzbach and Spitzgrundteich further to the historic Kreyern forester's house. From Kapellenteich, you reach the picturesque Ilschenteich. After a short distance, you cross two state roads at a traffic light intersection. Past the historic Gasthof Auer, you reach the Moritzburg district Auer via Siedlerweg. In the last part of the hike, the route leads along Münchhauwiese to Steinernen Weg. At the end of Steinernen Weg, you reach Moritzburg castle pond and after a short distance the starting point of the hike.
