It is not easy for children, this round through the Schmallenberg Sauerland. At approx. 44 kilometers and 537 meters of elevation, the kids should bring some stamina.

The start of the Kinderland bike route is in Schmallenberg at the Wood and Tourism Center. Some elevation gain has to be overcome on the route, but the efforts are rewarded with great views and many experiences along the way.

The yellow label of this route has the number 1 (blue) and is shortened from the main route of the Kinderland bike route via the route number 3 (violet) in Ebbinghof.

Along the way, families become explorers. Playgrounds, ponds and paddling pools invite you to a fun break, streams promise cooling down and a good opportunity to splash around. Nature adventure awaits everywhere: animals along the way such as horses, goats, donkeys and cows. With a bit of luck, you can even spot deer, black storks, herons, stags or hares for a brief moment.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

A visit to the historic, late Romanesque Church of St. Peter and Paul Wormbach and the listed cemetery is worthwhile.

On the Kinderland bike route, even learning is fun. On the family adventure trail, in the slate mining and local history museum, or in the model layout on the Rothaarsteig and at other sights, you learn a lot about the country and its people.
