Suggested stages:

  1. Stage (approx. 9 km) - Waldschwimmbad - Wiehenturm - Grüner See
From the Waldschwimmbad, follow the trail markings (white ring). After 100 m you will find yourself in a beautiful mixed forest. After 2 km, you will reach the Eininghauser Patt refuge on the northern ridge path on a paved path with slight inclines. After another 2 km, the Wiehenturm (180 m) offers a wonderful panoramic view. From its platform, you can look south into the Eggetal valley and behind it to the main ridge of the Wiehengebirge with the Nonnenstein peak. If you turn your gaze towards the North German Plain, the primeval valley of the Weser becomes visible and the Stemweder mountains rise on the horizon. Now you walk along the edge of the forest, across a parking lot with a barbecue and shelter hut. From an overview map, you can read that the Eggetal valley must be cut through. Once you have reached the forest again, it is approx. 5 km to the Grüner See, an idyllic spot with a small waterfall.

  2. Stage (approx. 7 km) - Grüner See - Nonnenstein - Neue Mühle
At the watercourse of the lake, pass a bus stop and after 100 m turn left uphill. Together with the Wittekindsweg to the viewing tower on the Nonnenstein (274 m) it is 3 km. It is also worth climbing the tower here. From here you can roughly follow the hiking trail you have already covered. At the same time, you can see the Eggetal valley again, with the villages of Eininghausen and Börninghausen. Behind it is the northern foothills of the Wiehengebirge with the castle ruins on the Limberg. If you turn to the south, your gaze falls on the Ravensburger Mulde. The Nonnenstein once belonged to the nuns of Herford Abbey. After walking along a narrow path through a conifer clearing, you come to a crossroads. There you turn right to the Neue Mühle. You have now covered 16 km, half of your hiking route.

  3. Stage (approx. 6 km) - Neue Mühle - Glösinghausen - Kurpark Bad Holzhausen
Continue over the railroad bridge on the Bielefeld - Rahden line, sometimes more and sometimes less strenuous, to Gösinghausen. Here you soon leave the forest and again have a beautiful view of the North German Plain with the Stemweder mountains in the background. The villages of Preußisch Oldendorf and Bad Holzhausen lie ahead of you from the left. It is another 3 km to Bad Holzhausen with its spa gardens and Haus des Gastes.

  4. Stage (approx. 7.5 km) - Bad Holzhausen spa gardens - forester's lodge and Limberg castle ruins - Preußisch Oldendorf
Passing the watermill, through the park, you reach the Bad Holzhausen - Bünde country road, which you cross at a transformer. Now it is about 2 km uphill past a burial ground to the ruins of Limberg Castle (190 m). After about 600 m on your hiking trail, you will come to a path spider with a seating area. Keep right on Balkenkamp and turn right again before the forest into Offelter Berg. Before you reach the starting point of your hiking trail again after 6 km, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the beautiful mountain town of Preußisch Oldendorf from the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge.
