The hike runs through the Mulden floodplain, along long stretches of the Mulde river, across meadow paths and through small, idyllic villages. Hikers will be rewarded on arrival by the beautiful Protestant parish church in Löbnitz, where they will find the largest and most extensive illustrated Bible in Germany.

The route to Löbnitz runs along meadow paths close to the river. The route crosses small sections of forest and then runs along the edge of the forest to Reibitz. You then follow field and forest paths to Lake Seelhausen. Here the hiker is treated to a wonderful view. Passing a stud farm, you approach the village center and the church, which is famous for its ceiling of coffered panels with biblical images and floral motifs. In Luther's day, the route from Wittenberg to Leipzig led via Kemberg and Löbnitz. Luther was on friendly terms with the manor owner Ernst von Schönfeldt.

Directions

The route begins at the Bergkirche St. Marien church in Bergstraße and then runs along Schlossweg and Leipziger Straße across the Mulde river. It then runs parallel to Wallstraße through a housing estate, turns left into Rinckartstraße and then runs along Försterweg to Kornmarkt. The route continues along Hirschgasse onto Nordring. Follow this in a westerly direction, cross the Mulde river and turn right into Mühlgasse. From here, the Luther Trail runs north along the Mulde Valley hiking trail parallel to the Mühlgraben. After the town of Eilenburg, you cross a wooded area and reach Hainichen and Zschepplin. The route continues north along the Vereinigte Mulde river. In Hohenprießnitz, the Luther Trail leaves the Mulde Valley Hiking Trail and turns west. The trail leads through the Noitzscher Heide past the "Red House", where you cross the B2. Via Brösen, you pass the Schadebach reservoir to Badrina. Behind the village, turn north again, along the "Leine 2" stream to the "Großer Teich" pond near Reibitz. From Reibitz, the route heads north, parallel to Löbnitzer Straße through Reibitzer Holz to Seelhausenerr See, along the western shore of Seelhausener See on the Reibitzer Weg to Löbnitz. Here the route ends at the church in Dübener Straße.
