Always along the Zwickauer Mulde river, this section of the route leads through a wide floodplain bordered by the Westerzgebirge mountains and the Vogtland region. It connects the two almost 900-year-old towns of Zwickau and Glauchau.

The route from Glauchau to Zwickau largely follows the well-developed Muldental hiking trail. It runs alongside the river "Zwickauer Mulde" and offers a peaceful and relaxing hiking experience. The towers of St. Catherine's Church and St. Mary's Cathedral can already be seen from the first Zwickau districts of Crossen and Pölbitz. The route continues directly along the banks of the river in Zwickau to the Paradiesbrücke bridge, which forms the transition to the historic old town. The nearby priests' houses were built as early as the middle of the 13th century. Zwickau was the second town after Wittenberg where the Reformation took hold. Martin Luther stayed in Zwickau several times and preached here. Life-size statues of the reformers Luther and Melanchthon can be seen on the outer façade of the cathedral.

Directions

In Glauchau, the route starts in Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße and leads via Leipziger Straße into the town center to Kirchplatz. From there, you follow the Mühlberg down through Dorotheenstraße to the Zwickauer Mulde and cross it. From here, the Luther Trail runs together with the Mulde Valley Hiking Trail for a while. Turn left at Auestraße and cross the river a second time on Hochuferstraße. The trail then heads south along the north bank of the Zwickauer Mulde, past the Auesiedlung industrial estate and the villages of Niederschindmaas and Schlunzig. From Schlunzig, the trail leads along Moseler Allee to the B93, which it follows parallel to "Lange Straße". Continue south until the Luther Trail meets the Mulde Valley hiking trail again. Follow this through Crossen and Pölbitz to Kolbingstraße in Zwickau. The Luther Trail continues along the river to the bridge over the Mulde "Am Brückenberg", where this stage of the Luther Trail ends.
