- Start: Church in Schöning
The DE 2 circular route takes you through the district of Schöning and the green Ems landscape. The village with around 1400 inhabitants is located north-east of Delbrück on the border with Rietberg.Schöning's most famous son is Johann Sporck, who rose from a simple farmer's son to the rank of imperial count in the 17th century. He was born from the marriage of Franz Nolte (gen. Sporck), who came from Nordhagen, and a daughter of Jobst Sporck, who had no sons. Johann Sporck was probably born on the Sporckhof in Schöning around 1600. After his military career in the Thirty Years' War, his name changed to Count Johann von Sporck in 1668, as Emperor Leopold I elevated him to the hereditary rank of count and placed the imperial cavalry under his command. He came to Schöning for the last time in 1674 and visited his parents' house. Today's secondary school in Delbrück bears his name. The starting point of the 12-kilometre route is the church in the heart of Schöning. On the corner of Schöninger Straße and Friedrich-Richta-Straße is the first point of interest, an old draw well that the residents used for their water supply. Today it is included in Schöning's coat of arms as a landmark. Another draw well is located at the old Schützenplatz.

The Manege café-restaurant is a wonderful place to stop for a bite to eat: For breakfast, lunch or dinner or simply in between. The huge playground with many attractions offers fun and games for children.Continue along Giptenweg, past the Westerloher Mühle mill with its prince-bishop's coat of arms, into Ehlersweg. Follow Schöninger Straße in the direction of Lippling and then turn into Sudfeld. Via Brakendiek, Postdamm and Alter Postweg, you return to the starting point of the tour, the church, via Eckernkamp. Following a generous donation and the donation of the land, a small chapel was initially built here in 1902, which was eventually extended to its current size in 1922.
At the end of your tour, stop off at the Landrestaurant Schnittker. Here you can enjoy typical local cuisine and other culinary delights.
