The flat circular route leads through the sparsely populated and scenic south-west of Bielefeld to the Brackwede natural swimming pool, through the Luttertal valley and to Niemöller's mill.
(!) Feeder route from Brackwede train station (2x 3 km) /
Round trip:
The Brackwede natural pool is located on the feeder route. The crystal-clear, sparkling fresh water of the outdoor pool comes from the nearby source of the Ems-Lutter. Purification by mineral filters ensures first-class, chlorine-free water quality.
The Luttertal in the Brackwede district is a natural green space. Ponds and meadows that were once used for bleaching fabrics have developed into a "wilderness".The first stop on the circular route is Niemöller's Mill. It was built on the Ems-Lutter around 1736 as a replacement for the original Niemöller flour mill from 1535 after it burned down. The association "Freunde und Förderer der Mühle Niemöller in Quelle e. V." regularly invites visitors to the mill café.
In the past, the Lutterkolk, the source pond of the Lutter, was located in the Bielefeld Pass. Since the construction of the railroad in 1847, the spring water has been drained away through underground drainage pipes. Today, it emerges from a pipe at the mill pond on Umlostraße.To the left of the path between fields, you will see the buildings of the Diakonische Stiftung Ummeln. It was founded in 1866 and is one of the oldest diaconal organizations in Germany.
In the Holtkamp district, the south-western tip of the Bielefeld city area, you cycle past horse paddocks and can enjoy the vastness of the landscape.
At the end of the circular route, you have another beautiful view of the Teutoburg Forest with the telecommunications tower from Queller Straße.
