- Start: Erkeln at the village church of St. Peter in Chains.
- Destination: Erkeln
The circular hiking trail no. 6 starts in Erkeln at the village church and leads you through the "Risskuhle" into the Erkeler Feld.
The trail leads uphill. Some beautiful views of Erkeln are guaranteed on the way to the former Auenhausen radar station. On the left in the forest is a quarry with a gravel works. Before the radar station, turn left and then left again into the forest. Cross the L863 and walk briefly along the edge of the forest. The meadow path that begins leads you to the left. Before you turn right again onto the gravelled forest path, you have the option of following the forest path downhill directly to Erkeln. The upper half of this path leads over forest soil, so sturdy footwear is essential!
Once you have followed circular hiking trail 6, you will reach the Erkeln refuge with a fireplace under mighty oak trees. Follow the hiking trail downhill out of the forest. In Erkeler Feld, you have the option of shortening the route again at the crossroads and following the tarmac field path to the left towards Erkeln. Hiking trail 6 leads you straight ahead, downhill to Beller. Follow the path and you will reach Hembsen. Before the Hembsen primary school, turn left and reach Erkeln via the hiking/cycling trail.
Deviating routes/shortcuts are not maintained by the town of Brakel.
