THREE VALLEYS TOUR: ALONG THE WATERCOURSES OF THE ESCHBACH, MORSBACH AND WUPPER
Along the old industrial route in the heart of the Bergisch countryside
One of the most beautiful hiking routes in the Bergisches Land runs through an area where the industrialisation of Europe began hundreds of years ago and water wheels on the rivers drove hammer mills and grindstones for making tools.
Relics of a bygone era
The Three Valleys tour takes you along the watercourses of the Eschbach, Morsbach and Wupper which are steeped in history. The remains of cottages, hammers and forges have exciting stories to tell.
Hiking fun for the whole family
This tour is perfect for hikers both large and small. You can hike fairly effortlessly along part of the route that follows an old railway line. Where steam trains once puffed along, the tracks now only have a recreational purpose. There is the odd incline to overcome of course, because where there are valleys, there are mountains too, but don’t worry, this is an easy task.
The route is the goal and Schloss Burg is the summit
Shortly before the end of the route, there is a somewhat steeper uphill section. But once you reach Schloss Burg enthroned high above, the effort of the climb is soon forgotten. A fantastic view of the wooded hills and valleys of the Bergisches Land awaits you here. You can also reward yourself with all kinds of treats in the cafés and restaurants. So how about fresh waffles or a real pretzel burger?
Tip: If your legs are already tired, just board the cable car in the car park at the bottom and take a ride to the top.Good to know
