This route leads along easily accessible paths and is also ideal for less experienced hikers. Along the Bielefeld Pass, there are many worthwhile excursion destinations in the East Westphalian metropolis.

Tip to start with: a visit to Sparrenberg Castle and fortress dating back to 1240. Sparrenburg Castle is the city's landmark. The largest fortress in Westphalia offers a great view from the four roundels and the 31.5-metre-high tower. The trail continues to the other side of the Bielefeld Pass. Along the Johannisfriedhof cemetery and the Botanical Gardens, the path leads past the Olderdissen Wildlife Park. More than 100 native animal species live there in spacious enclosures between ponds, meadows and forests.

The Ochsenheide, a gem, lines the route section to the Bauernhaus Museum. The route continues to the Johannisberg. The historic park there is one of the oldest parks in the city. It is also home to the Winzer'sche Garten, where you can discover a stone table, a spring rock with an implied watercourse and bridge, as well as an artificial grotto. The route then leads back to the starting point. There are many places to stop for a break along the route.
