In September, the impressive knight's tournaments will once again be celebrated at Castle Satzvey: Over the course of two weekends, the medieval water castle will immerse itself in the era of romantic love and the exciting world of knights. For 45 years now, the family of Patricia Countess Beissel von Gymnich has been hosting the spectacular knight's tournaments at their historic residence.
The highlight of the medieval festivities on the picturesque castle grounds and in the expansive park is this year's show Valkyria by the Knight of Castle Satzvey. Extraordinary stunts and an impressive fire spectacle with horse and rider captivate young and old in the vibrant historical setting of days gone by.
Medieval Market, Jugglers, Minstrels, and Knight's Camp
The large medieval market on the castle grounds, featuring around seventy merchants from various old guilds, is among the most impressive in the country. Here, all sorts of goods and artisanal treasures are offered – from intricately crafted jewelry to fine fabrics to traditional wooden works. Between the market stalls, storytellers, minstrels, and jugglers invite wonder and lingering, including The Will-o'-the-wisps, Alf the Juggler, Jolandolo and Spilldeyvel.
For culinary delights, homemade dishes and refreshing drinks are served in a manner true to the medieval style. A special highlight is the large knight's camp in the castle park, which allows both small and large guests to dive into the world of knights, squires, and noble ladies.
