Welcome to Castle Satzvey! Twice a year, in spring and autumn, the beautiful water castle near Mechernich invites you to its legendary knight festival. Immerse yourself in the medieval market hustle and bustle on the 4.5-hectare castle grounds, admire the various goods and crafts of around 70 vendors, and enjoy homemade food and drinks. Minstrels, jesters, storytellers, knight camps, and proud knights on horseback leave both young and old in awe.

For over 40 years, Castle Satzvey has been transporting visitors of all ages into a medieval world, into the time of chivalry and romance. The first documented mention of the castle dates back to 1396, and it is even suspected that the foundation walls are even older. For over 300 years, the building has been in the ownership of the Counts Beissel von Gymnich, who maintain the monument according to the motto “Preservation through entertainment” and present it to the public.
Today, Castle Satzvey is internationally renowned for this skillful interplay of monument preservation and the presentation of living history. Since 2012, the daughter of the house, Patricia Countess Beissel, has been responsible for family-friendly events and an appealing program throughout the year. This also includes the traditional knight festivals, the highlight of which is undoubtedly the grand show of the knights of Castle Satzvey. The knight team, consisting of riders, actors, and stunt performers, has been known for its impressive live shows for many years and also captivates the audience here with its mix of theater and action scenes.

Overnight stays in the castle are also possible – leaving the trip memorable for a long time.
