In September, the impressive knight tournaments will be celebrated again at Burg Satzvey: On two weekends, the medieval water castle plunges into the era of romantic courtly love and the exciting world of knights. For 45 years now, the family of Patricia Countess Beissel von Gymnich has been hosting the spectacular knight tournaments at their historic residence.
The highlight of the medieval activities on the picturesque castle grounds and in the expansive park is this year's show Valkyria by the Knight of Burg Satzvey. Extraordinary stunts and an impressive fire spectacle with horse and rider captivate both young and old in the lively historical backdrop of bygone times.
Medieval Market, Jugglers, Minstrels, and Knight Camp
The large medieval market on the castle grounds, featuring around seventy merchants from various ancient guilds, is one of the most impressive in the country. Here, all kinds of goods and handcrafted treasures are offered for sale – from artistically crafted jewelry to fine fabrics and traditional wooden works. Between the market stalls, storytellers, minstrels, and jugglers invite visitors to marvel and linger, including Die Irrlichter, Alf the Juggler, Jolandolo and Spilldeyvel.
Homemade dishes and refreshing drinks are served in a style reminiscent of the Middle Ages to cater to your culinary needs. A particular highlight is the large knight camp in the castle park, which immerses small and large guests into the world of knights, squires, and noble ladies.
