Welcome to the wild and romantic Kirnitzschtal valley near the Queen!
Around 200 years ago, there was still the office of "waterfall drawer" in Lichtenhain in the Kirnitzschtal valley. Whenever there was enough water in the reservoir and enough onlookers had gathered, he would open the weir and the babbling of the Lichtenhain stream would briefly swell to a roar to the "Oh" and "Ah" of the audience. The Lichtenhain waterfall is one of the few curiosities from the early days of tourism in Saxon Switzerland that has survived to this day.

The inn, which opened right next to the waterfall in 1853, has also been preserved. The "Gasthof Lichtenhainer Wasserfall" is one of the gastronomic legends in Saxon Switzerland - and has been owned by the same family for more than five generations!

The rustic, almost nostalgic ambience of the wood-panelled guest rooms, decorated with antlers and hunting trophies - and of course a cosy tiled stove - invites you to dream of the long and glorious history of tourism in the Kirnitzsch Valley.

A classic on the menu is rainbow trout from the hotel's own smoker, served with cranberry horseradish and boiled potatoes! And the waterfall, which still rushes every 30 minutes to this day - but now automatically.
