This rock has the shape of a chapel and in its center there is a natural niche, where a statue of the Virgin Mary has been placed. A cross was once erected on the rock. It is assumed that workers who have been quarrying sandstone in the Bollendorfer Forest for centuries regularly visited this small image to pray out of gratitude for returning home safely to their families after a day’s work.
