Church

Freiffrau Sophie Catharina von Steinberg, née von Münchehausen, donated the current church on the foundations of the old church.

The church was consecrated in November 1692.

As the first church was too small for the congregation, a baroque-style church with a stepped chancel was built, but still without a tower. It was consecrated and put into use in November 1682.

But it was not destined to last long, as the great fire of November 1690 destroyed it along with the rectory and many of the village houses. As many of the citizens were themselves damaged by the fire, they were unable to raise money to rebuild the church. However, they managed to persuade Baroness Sophie Catharina von Steinberg, née von Münchehausen, who lived in Bodenburg and Bornhausen, to donate money. She had the present church rebuilt and furnished at her own expense on the foundations of the old church. The church was consecrated in November 1692.

In the interior of the church, the Lamspring artist Micha Kloth created a cycle of 12 colorful pastel paintings for the gallery balustrade between 2005 and 2007.
