Kirche Oberlübbe

Church

The Oberlübbe church combines Art Nouveau and historicism and is the religious center of the village community.

The secession and the construction of the church

In 1913, the parish of Oberlübbe decided to separate from the mother parish of Bergkirchen and build its own church. This decision marked a turning point in the history of the village and was intended to create a new, independent center for the faithful in Oberlübbe. The construction management was entrusted to architect J. Campani, who was also known for other church buildings in North Rhine-Westphalia. Campani designed the Oberlübbe church in the historicizing Art Nouveau style, an architectural style that was particularly fashionable at the time and creatively combined historical stylistic elements with Art Nouveau details.
