Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt

Church
The "Schneifeldom," as it is also called, is the visible sign of a long historical development from the Middle Ages to the 21st century.

Inside the parish church in Bleialf you can admire the beautiful ceiling painting by Arnold Mrziglod; Tholey from 1979. It depicts the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven.

From the marketplace, you can see the archway and the remaining parts of the old cemetery wall, which once bordered the church area.

During the restoration work from 1980 to 1982, a figurative painting was uncovered in the choir of the old church. It depicts the Ten Commandments alternating with the Ten Plagues of Egypt and the Crowning of the Virgin Mary in Heaven. In the new part of the church, there is the late Gothic high altar from 1540, which shows the life of Jesus from birth to resurrection.

The parish church can also be visited as part of a guided tour.
