The parish church of St. Nicholas was built in 1492 in the late Gothic style under Cuno II, Count of Manderscheid-Blankenheim, Lord of Neuerburg. It is located in the "Burgfried," a hill below the castle. The two-aisled structure is characterized by its beautiful ribbed vaults and the coats of arms in the keystones of the vaults.
Especially valuable are the baptismal font from the 16th century, the octagonal wooden pulpit from the 18th century, and the confession booth with extensive carvings. A sacrament shrine from the time of construction is also still present. The statue of Saint Nicholas - the patron saint of the church - dates back to the 15th century.
The gate tower of the parish church is the medieval entrance to the first section of the castle and also serves as a bell tower. After the great fire of 1818, it was reconstructed in the old style.
