Lake

The most attractive playground in the region can be visited in Salzgitter. On the eastern shore of Lake Salzgitter, the "Pirate Playground" fascinates young and old alike.

The large playground with 4,500 square meters is located in the immediate vicinity of the DLRG station, beach volleyball courts and the beach soccer pitch.

The design of the pirate playground is based on the idea that pirates once ran aground on Lake Salzgitter. Their ship ran aground and broke into three pieces. The stern is close to the water, the mast with its basket towers over this area and the bow points steeply upwards. A large dune was fortified with a defensive fence made of thick planks. A slide tower with two levels was built on top of it. A slide tube with a length of eleven meters and a height difference of 5.50 meters is the most attractive piece of play equipment, and further equipment has been placed between the ship and the beach soccer pitch. Sand and water play equipment has been developed for younger children and there is a toddler climbing area. Since summer 2020, free WiFi has been available around the lake under the name "freeWIFISalzgitter".
