St George’s Chapel in Kulm

Church
It is worthwhile making a detour to the Kulm part of Saalburg to gain an impression of the daughter churches in the town.
A very old chapel, which was dedicated to St George, the slayer of the dragon, in 1223 is located there. Even more than 100 years ago, the little church gave the impression that it would firmly and defiantly resist all the storms of the centuries with its low, strong walls and barred windows. Alongside relics of St George, remains of the Apostle Peter, of Archbishop Otto and of the 11,000 virgins have been preserved in the altar. The chapel officially became a daughter church of St Mary’s Church in Saalburg in 1325.
