The south of Wilsdruff offers varied paths with lots of discovery potential for young and old.

The bike route "Around Wilsdruff" is a beautiful route through the south of the Wilsdruff region.

The route runs over beautiful bike paths of the former narrow-gauge railway, on which steam locomotives ran on narrow-gauge tracks until 1974, but which are now ideal for discovery trips by bike.

At the beginning, you leave the city center and pass numerous fields a few meters away, which are in full rapeseed bloom in spring, ride through tree-lined avenues and finally also through forests. The Triebisch river accompanies the beginning of the route and is crossed again and again over small wooden bridges.

There are some worthwhile detours along the route, including the Limbach manor, which is near the route. For refreshment and grocery shopping, the Flade farm with milk vending point directly on the route provides, where many cows, pigs, and the farm dog can also be admired.

For refreshment in summer, a stop at the Mohorn outdoor pool provides refreshment. The season changes quickly on request, because a few meters behind you immerse in Christmas atmosphere, here there is the possibility to visit the Knox incense museum.

For geology fans, the route also has something to offer: the Porphyr fan geological open-air museum Mohorn-Grund.  Here you dive into the geological history of the region with an educational trail. Afterwards, the strenuous climb to the Landberg awaits but is rewarded. At the top, a guesthouse awaits, which offers a wonderful view over the nearby region in the beer garden.

The route continues past many worth-seeing farms and field paths, where there are always opportunities to rest, such as at the large oak after Pohrsdorf, where there is a beautiful view back to the Landberg.

At the end of the route, the view of the former mill in Kaufbach, which adorns the coat of arms of the village, awaits.

After returning to Wilsdruff, you should visit the sights of the town, for example, the local history museum, the historic locomotive hall, the town hall with glass carillon, or the Jakobikirche. A refreshment directly at the market is also possible in the surrounding restaurants or bakeries.

The route is suitable for touring bikes, e-bikes, and gravel bikes and can be ridden with a racing bike when dry.

Directions

The route starts in the west of Wilsdruff, immediately near the local history museum. Here you follow the signs "Around Wilsdruff" straight ahead along the former narrow-gauge railway. After about 3.5 km, the first detour towards Limbach to the nearby manor is worthwhile.

The route itself continues always on the railway track. On the fields, a small stop at the "Flade" farm, which is marked as a milk vending point, is worthwhile. Then it rolls comfortably downhill to Helbigsdorf. Here, the former station buildings also testify to the railway past. Keep left at the station into the forest, here forest paths run along the river Triebisch. These are also the reason for the adjacent mills, such as the Semmel mill. A narrow path finally leads to Freiberger Straße, which is crossed directly. Opposite, the route continues to the edge of the Tharandt Forest.  Those looking for a cooling off can jump into the outdoor pool in the small district "Grund." The Knox incense museum is also recommended for a visit here.

The route leads shortly before the village left into the forest - here awaits the geological highlight "Porphyr fan," which should not be missed. A short break also makes sense here, because right after that it goes steeply through the forest via the Schmiedersgraben path up to Landberg. Once at the top, there is a place to rest – the "Landberg" inn. After a possible refreshment, it rolls nicely to the right further downhill.

After a few hundred meters, the bike path turns left through a small modern settlement and leads to Pohrsdorf. There we turn left again into Kirchweg and ride on field paths. The next rest is worthwhile at the large oak tree. A small lake on the right side also invites you to stop.

The field path then continues straight ahead after a short left-right curve into the village of Braunsdorf, and finally in a larger curve to Kesselsdorf. Shortly before the center, we turn right into the allotment garden settlement and thus come relaxed onto Unkersdorfer Straße, which leads us out of the town again.

Kaufbach is the last village before returning to Wilsdruff. Here a look to the left at the former mill, the symbol of the village, is worthwhile.  Straight ahead, the route finally leads back in the direction of the starting point, where at the entrance of the town the show garden at Keils manor, as well as Keils manor itself, are worth seeing. The Jakobikirche also shows itself and is waiting for a visit. In the town center, you then finally reach the starting point again.
