The southern part of the Meißner 8 also offers much to see and ride in the Meißen surroundings. From the right bank bus station, the route leads directly over the Elbe, offering a wonderful view of the historic old town.
On the way out of town, the cycle route follows the Triebischtal until the first mills appear. These are important historical witnesses of the region; originally there were 53 water mills along the Triebisch.
Today they serve different purposes, some still grind grain. Like the first example on the left side of the tour – the Fichtenmühle, which also invites you to shop local products in its own mill farm shop.
Other mills serve as technical museums, such as the Mittelmühle in Garsebach, or are used as gastronomy, like the neighboring Barthmühle. Many of these mills have joined an association so interested people can read about them in advance at http://www.muehlen-im-triebischtal.de/.
The route continues on relaxed cycle paths without traffic along the course of the „Kleine Triebisch.” Lots of greenery surrounds the ride and repeated views fall on further historic mills, some privately used and lovingly restored with great attention to detail.
In Taubenheim, you can explore the former manor with castle as well as the charming village church. You can also take a break at the farm shop and café of the "Pfarrgut Taubenheim" for coffee and cake or purchase regional products. After the town, it becomes hillier, but the views over the nearby region are worth it. In Sora, a beautiful church awaits, often accompanied by grazing alpacas.
The last mill discovery, the Neudeckmühle, appears after a descent to the river „Wilde Sau” – here on weekends the detour to the beer garden is worthwhile, as a steep ramp then follows uphill again.
Afterwards, the ride rolls downhill again with panoramic views into the Elbe valley, eventually arriving at the Elbe cycle path. The tour then follows this on the left bank back to Meißen, the starting point of the loop, where various gastronomy providers invite you to refresh yourself.
Another worthwhile bike ride leads over the northern part of the Meißner 8.

Directions
The route starts in Meißen on the right bank Elbe cycle path (parking lot) and leads straight from Plangasse to Dresdner Straße. Turn left here and after about 130 m immediately turn left again to switch to the left bank cycle path via the railway and pedestrian bridge.
Here the route continues straight on through Obergasse and then right onto Plossenweg. From there, turn left to Neumarkt. At the soon visible Nicolaikirche, turn left again at the third junction onto Wettinstraße, then follow the Triebisch river through the Triebischtal until you leave Meißen behind. You pass through Garsebach, then immediately after turn left over the bridge and then immediately right again over another small bike bridge. Now follow the narrow path of the former light railway track to Taubenheim. In town, turn right onto the main street and after about 50 meters left onto the cycle path. The path goes up and down until Sora, where shortly after the church, you first turn right, then after about 120 m turn left again, cross the main street and go straight onto Klipphausener/Soraer Straße.
In the following town of Klipphausen, continue to the roundabout, exit at the third exit onto Meißner Straße. At the next pond, keep left and then follow the cycle path until it bends right onto Neudeckmühlenweg.
After the following ride through the forest, the route turns right through Neudeckmühle and then directly steeply uphill. After another ride over the fields, at the next junction turn left to Kleinschönberg and roll down through the forest towards the Elbe valley to Constappel, where the tour turns right at the first opportunity onto Wildberger Allee leading to Wildberg. There turn left again, then after 20 meters take Cossebauder Straße to the right, which immediately leads left again onto Alte Dorfstraße to the Elbe cycle path.
Here turn left again towards Meißen to roll flat along the Elbe cycle path to Meißen. Then the railway bridge leads again over the Elbe to the right bank starting point (Elbe parking lot).
