The circular route starts at the "Festwiese" parking lot in Radebeul. Right from the start, you enjoy the charming landscape of the Elbe Valley. Initially, you ride westward on the Elbe Cycle Route, always along the picturesque Elbe meadows. On the almost flat asphalt surface, you can pick up speed immediately. Behind Kaditz, you cross the Elbe and enter the idyllic left bank villages and valleys. The path leads past the Zschonergrund protected landscape area. The first stop is worth a detour to the Zschoner natural swimming pool or the historic Zschoner mill, where you can enjoy a cool drink in the beer garden. The Vorwerk Podemus organic farm can also be visited for a snack while enjoying the view of nature.
The first elevation gain comes further along through the quaint villages Dresden-Pennrich, Gompitz, and Freital-Wurgwitz. From Wurgwitz to Kesselsdorf, the route follows the Edgar-Rudolph path, a former railway line that connected Freital with Wilsdruff until 1972. The old railway embankment with its swath through forest and meadow reminds one of the past of this region.
The route meanders further over old country roads around Klipphausen, past forest edges, through the hinterland with historic farms, mills, and well-maintained village churches. To Naustadt, it follows a slightly descending section with varied small waves that invite short spurts. Finally, the descent to Gauernitz can be enjoyed. After one last short climb, a detour to the Eichhörnchengrund near Gauernitz offers a place to rest, where the Schulzemühle is located as well, Germany's smallest walkable, still operating watermill at a scale of 1:5. From here, the tour continues through the wild romantic Regenbach valley to Constappel, where you meet the Elbe again and can enjoy an impressive panoramic view along the riverbank. After crossing the river at Niederwartha, the loop closes: you return to the Elbe Cycle Route and follow it comfortably back to Radebeul.
Those who want to end the day in the historic village center of Altkötzschenbroda will find many cozy cafés, bars, and restaurants. Regional wine lovers have a wide choice thanks to the many idyllic vineyards settled here. For example, you can stop at the Hoflößnitz winery and also admire the wine museum there.
Those with more time who want to dive into the history of Karl May and his adventures will find a stopover with the Karl May Museum.

Directions
The route begins at the "Festwiese" parking lot, directly on the Elbe meadows. After a few meters, turn right into the street "An der Festwiese" and shortly after, turn right again onto the Elbe Cycle Route. Follow this until the Elbe bridge at the A4 motorway. There you leave the Elbe Cycle Route, cross the Elbe on the right, and keep right again on the opposite bank, ride under the Elbe bridge, and then turn right onto Zschonergrundstraße.
The Zschonergrundstraße later changes into Merbitzer Straße, which leads out of the residential area. The Kirchweg branches off to the right and goes under the motorway bridge. At the intersection with Elbhangstraße, turn left into Elbhangstraße, which then goes over into Oberlandstraße. After about 500 meters, turn left again to follow the street Gewerbepark over the motorway bridge to the edge of the Podemus settlement. A short right bend leads to Roitzscher Landstraße. At the next intersection turn left into Roitzscher Dorfstraße. After a section "Am Mühlberg," turn left into Steinbacher Grundstraße and immediately right into "Am Erlengrund." At the end of the street, turn left onto a field path, keep left there towards federal road 173 and ride to the Pennricher Höhe. There turn left and after about 100 meters right again into Oskar-Maune-Straße. Just before the tram stop, turn briefly left onto Gompitzer Höhe and right again into the small street in front of the hotel. Continue straight on Gompitzer Straße, crossing federal road and motorway.
Behind the motorway, turn right off this street onto Kohlsdorfer Weg and follow this for a while until it becomes Pennricher Straße. You are now in Wurgwitz, a district of Freital. Continue straight to Pesterwitzer Straße, cross it, and then follow straight the unpaved Kohlsdorfer Straße through an orchard, along the Hammerbach stream. After about 350 m, turn right onto a field path to Edgar-Rudolph-Weg. Turn right onto this road, cross Wurgwitzer Straße, and keep going straight. Edgar-Rudolph-Weg crosses Kesselsdorfer Straße on the left at the outskirts and then continues over Zur Wiederitz street and, keeping right, over Erlenstraße, leading through gentle hills and fields finally to Kesselsdorf.
In Kesselsdorf, you soon reach Christian-Klengel-Straße, turn right there, then left again. Then cross Straße des Friedens and turn opposite to Unkersdorfer Straße. Follow this to Sachsenallee and turn right there. At the next intersection, turn left again onto a path, cycle past the Kesselsdorf youth club, under the B170 underpass, straight along the Zschonerbach stream. Cross this stream on the left and immediately turn right. Shortly after, come onto Inselallee, keep right and follow it back to Unkersdorfer Straße, turn right into it, which changes into Am Steinhübel street. At the next intersection, leave it again to the left onto Alte Nossener Poststraße.
This street leads into the peaceful Kaufbach village, where you turn left onto Dorfstraße. Follow it along Kaufbach stream to Oberstraße. Turn right here, follow Oberstraße briefly to the next intersection, then continue left on a field path. Later, you meet the street "An der Autobahn," turn left onto it, then shortly after switch right into Hühndorfer Straße and go under the motorway. After a short while, turn left again, stay on Hühndorfer Straße, and reach the small village Sachsendorf. After the chapel, turn left onto Sachsendorfer Weg. At the next intersection, take right the Saubachtalweg, following it along Wilde Sau stream back towards Sachsendorf and Klipphausen. Shortly after, you reach Bergstraße, cross it, and ride opposite into Hühndorfer Straße.
Shortly before Klipphausen castle, turn left into Talstraße. Go past the castle and right onto Neudeckmühlenweg. At the next fork, continue straight on Neudeckmühlenweg until you meet Kirchweg, then turn left and follow it to Harthaer Straße in Röhrsdorf. Then turn left onto Harthaer Straße, which changes into Pinkowitzer Straße. After the settlement, turn left again, enter the forest via Gävernitze street and ride to the next village Naustadt. There keep sharp right onto Zur Hopfendarre street and follow it to Pegenau. Stay right on Zur Hopfendarre street; it later goes over into Eichberg street and leads you to Gauernitz. Here, turn right onto Am Grundbach into Eichhörnchengrund and immediately left towards forest and fields to Pinkowitz. Turn right onto Langer Weg and immediately left into Regenbachtal. Following the path and Regenbach stream, you arrive directly at Constappel.
At the Constappel cemetery, turn left onto Harthaer Berg and immediately right into Hohle Gasse. After a short distance, turn left into Schlackenweg and then right onto the alley, before turning left onto Alten Schulweg. Follow this over An der Wilden Sau to Meissner Allee (B6). Cross B6 and turn opposite onto Alte Dorfstraße. Keep right there, passing Wildberg and back onto the Elbe Cycle Route. Pass under Niederwartha bridge, turn right twice towards "Am Fährhaus," and cross over the Elbe bridge to the opposite bank onto Niederwarthaer Straße. Follow the riverside street to the right until you meet the street "An der Festwiese" again. After one last right turn, you arrive back in Radebeul at the "Festwiese" parking lot and finish the circular route.

Important notes that must be observed before riding:
The gravel bike routes published here are purely digital route recommendations. Riding is entirely at your own risk. We assume no liability for accidents of any kind, including forest-typical hazards (e.g. falling branches, toppled trees, unforeseeable obstacles on the path). Please always ride attentively and with the necessary caution. Be sure to observe local notices and regulations.
Our recommendations for safe and considerate gravel biking:
1. Use only existing paths and do not leave the recommended route. This protects nature and prevents erosion.
2. Respect other path users: Be considerate of hikers, other cyclists, and riders. Yield and communicate politely.
3. Always adjust your speed to the respective conditions: consider your riding skills, the path surface, the weather, and other users.
4. Protect animals and nature: Stay on the paths, avoid riding at dusk or night, keep distance from wildlife, and do not leave any litter.
5. Take your rubbish back with you: everything you bring – from packaging to tissues to spare parts – must be taken back with you.
6. Wear suitable equipment: helmet, lights, tools, spare parts, possibly provisions and enough water are part of the standard equipment.
7. Plan ahead: check weather and path conditions, take care of your bike and equipment – and inform yourself about the route in advance.
