Elbe Cycle Route - Dresden Elbland Section - Left Bank of the Elbe

The starting point is below Pirna’s Old Town at the roundabout by the Elbe. Here, the route turns right off the road and runs directly along the Elbe through Heidenau all the way to Dresden.

Across from Pillnitz Palace, the route continues along the bike path past the Elbe meadows, before briefly veering left in Dresden-Laubegast at Kleinzschachwitzer Ufer or Österreichische Straße; after the Laubegast shipyard, however, it turns right again onto Coselgasse and then leads along the riverbank to the Blue Wonder Bridge.

The route continues across the Elbe meadows, under the Waldschlößchen Bridge, to the Terrassenufer below Dresden’s Old Town. Before the Marienbrücke, the route turns left, continues straight through the Ostra Sports Park and past the Alberthafen, before finally leading directly along the riverbank again.

A few meters past the Gohlis Windmill, the Elbe Cycle Path turns left onto Windmühlenstraße into the village of Gohlis. Here, keep right immediately to take Elbstraße and Dorfstraße. Then continue cycling through the fields and meadows to the Elbe Bridge in Niederwartha. Here, after the ferry house, keep right and go under the bridge, then turn right again to continue along the Elbe.

In Wildberg, the route continues straight through the village and along Alte Dorfstraße to Constappel. Here, turn right and ride along the Wilde Sau River, close to the Elbe, through Gauernitz and Scharfenberg, continuing straight on to Meissen. You’ll ride through the city along the bike path that runs parallel to the river between Hochuferstraße and the river. The route then continues through Keilbusch and Mischwitz to Zehren, where it turns right just before the village and, after a few curves, follows Leipziger Straße—though you’ll turn right off this road again after just a few meters. For about 200 meters, the bike path runs along Niedermuschützer Straße, but then also turns right toward the riverbank and winds its way to the Göhrischgärtnerei.

Turn right here again and follow the path via the Hebelei to Niederlommatzsch. There, at the ferry, turn left onto Fährgasse, then immediately right onto Hirschsteiner Weg, and continue along Elbstraße to Neuhirschstein. Before the castle, turn right onto the Elbe Bike Path and ride to Althirschstein. Here, turn left past the Alte Försterei, then immediately right onto Fährstraße, and after passing through the town, turn left again onto the Elbe Bike Path. In Boritz, turn left

Zum Kreuzstein.

In the next town, Schänitz, the route follows Leutewitzer Straße, then turns right again toward the Elbe and left across the fields to Riesa. You’ll always skirt around the city along the Elbe. Via Elbstraße, Breite Straße, and Bahnhofstraße, you’ll reach the river again and cross the city’s two Elbe bridges. After that, follow the route over a small bridge, turn left onto Kirchstraße, and then immediately right again—just in front of the church—onto Flurenstraße, before turning right onto Steinstraße and continuing through the fields to Oppitzsch. In Oppitzsch, turn left onto Altoppitzscher Straße and then immediately right toward Strehla.

In Strehla, turn right onto Riesaer Straße via Oppitzscher Weg, and after about 800 m, turn right again onto the main road. After a few meters, turn right off this road and continue left along the Elbe toward Görzig.

At the “Am Nixstein” guesthouse, turn right onto Trebnitzer Weg, and after about 300 m, turn left onto Görziger Straße. At the next intersection, turn right and leave the town heading toward Lößnig.

Before reaching Lößnig, take a sharp left toward Paußnitz, drive through the town of Paußnitz via Lößniger Straße and Dorfstraße, and then follow the B182/Strehlaer Straße to the right toward Schirmenitz.

In Schirmenitz, turn right onto Schulstraße, follow it toward Aussig, and bypass the town along the Dahle tributary or via the B182 to Seydewitz. Here, the route turns left onto Strehlaer Straße. After Burkhardtshof, keep right at the rest area, then ride across the fields and, after crossing the B182, continue via Lindenplatz to Plotha. From there, continue cycling along the Kiessee to reach Döschkau.

In Döschkau, after the Rittergut, turn right onto Brautweg and continue through the countryside to Ammelgosswitz; there, keep left, pass the old Schlenker estate, and follow the bike path to Belgern.

Before reaching Belgern, keep left, follow the path along the harbor, and circle around the town to the east, riding directly along the Elbe. Turn left again onto Triftweg toward Belgern, and at the next intersection, turn right to leave the town heading toward Döbeltitz.

Continue through the fields and turn left through the “Elbaue” in Döbeltitz to reach the next town, Kranichau. Pass through Kranichau by turning left onto Elbstraße, then taking a sharp right and another left toward Weßnig.

In Weßnig, turn left onto Lindenstraße, continue straight ahead, cross the B182, and ride along Dorfstraße toward Bennewitz. There, before the ponds, turn right onto the street “Am Schinderbusch,” which then follows the Flößgengraben for a short distance; from there, continue straight ahead to Loßwig. You’ll cross the B182 again along the way.

Take Kirchweg to reach Loßwig; after the cemetery, turn right onto the street “An den Linden,” then turn left again after 400 meters, and finally leave the village toward Torgau via the path “Zur Loßwiger Lünette.”

In Torgau, continue straight ahead along the Elbe, past the Hafenschlösschen and over the Hafenbrücke; then turn right onto the “Fischerdörfchen” path, turn left at the next bend, and follow the path straight ahead until you reach the B87. There, turn right onto Fischerstraße and follow it straight ahead to the market square. This brings you to the end of this stage in the center of Torgau.
