Beautiful circular tour on the north side of the Wiehengebirge. The R12 circular cycle route can be individually combined with the other circular cycle routes for an all-day excursion!

The trail leads through the spa town of Bad Holzhausen and the two recognized climatic health resorts of Börninghausen and Preußisch Oldendorf. The Eggetal valley in Börninghausen, which is almost entirely surrounded by wooded hills, offers particularly beautiful scenery and sweeping views.

With the districts of Börninghausen, Büscherheide and Eininghausen, the Eggetal valley is rightly known as the "jewel of the Lübbecker Land". The historic spa gardens in Bad Holzhausen also invite you to take a pleasant stroll. Adjacent to the spa gardens is the Haus des Gastes, a former manor house, now a meeting place with tourist information, tourist office, history room and much more. Next to the Haus des Gastes is the old estate water mill, where grain was milled until 1958. You will also find two very beautiful old manor houses along the way, the former Groß-Engershausen manor and Crollage Castle, which will immerse you in the past.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Visit one of the most beautiful half-timbered villages in Westphalia-Lippe in Offelten. Offelten has a high density of historic, rural half-timbered buildings that are hard to find anywhere else.

Safety guidelines

Always pay attention to the road safety of your bicycle. For your own safety and as a role model, we recommend wearing a bicycle helmet.
