This route takes us back in time - to the era of castles and palaces. Embedded in a uniquely beautiful natural setting - they make up the fascinating Leipzig region.

Rochlitz Castle with its two towers "Lichte Jupe" and "Finstre Jupe" was built to secure the victory over the Western Slavs. Find out more about the history of the castle on a guided tour or by visiting the permanent exhibition. www.schloss-rochlitz.de

Colditz Castle not only tells a medieval story, but also of the escape attempts of Allied officers who were held as prisoners of war in Colditz Castle between 1939 and 1945. The castle is also the venue for the "Colditz Classic", a series of classical concerts on the Blüthner grand piano. www.schloss-colditz.de

Mildenstein Castle, situated on a spur above the Freiberg Mulde, is one of the oldest castles in the Saxon settlement areas. In addition to exhibitions, guided tours and events, you can also take part in an interactive treasure hunt with an escape room and find the "Treasure of the One-Eyed Man". www.burg-mildenstein.de
