  • Destination: HalleWestphalia
The Hermannsweg from Dissen to Halle Westfalen offers a varied route through wooded paths and some beautiful viewpoints such as Ravensberg Castle and the Luisenturm. Continuing across meadows and fields, the trail leads over the Barenberg and the Kammweg to the destination.

The stage at a glance:
1.            Short stage route
The stage begins at the viewing tower in Dissen and continues to the Luisenturm tower above Borgholzhausen. The route then leads relatively steeply downhill into the center of the honey cake town. After you have walked through the town center and perhaps enjoyed a short break, you hike through meadows and fields up to Ravensberg Castle. The route continues over the Barenberg in the direction of Halle. Above Wichlinghausen, the trail takes a few bends before continuing along the ridge. Once you reach the transmission tower on the Große Egge - the highest point of the stage - your destination is within reach: the "Kaffeemühle" in Halle, a beautiful vantage point high above the town of Linden. From here, an access path leads along an avenue to the historic half-timbered town center. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments and shopping and a train station with good connections.

2.            Length of the stage in kilometers / altitude difference / route character
The stage is 19 kilometers long in total and has an altitude difference of around 450 meters. The route runs mainly on forest and field paths, but also partly on asphalt roads.

3.            Scenic features
This route could also be called the "stage of beautiful views". Because on this  stage you pass numerous viewpoints such as the Luisenturm, from where you can enjoy the best views far beyond Borgholzhausen. The route continues through meadows and fields up to a magnificent view from Ravensberg Castle.

Highlights on the route

  • The Luisenturm on the Johannisegge is a viewing tower with a view of the Münsterland and the Ravensberg hill country. Note: The Luisenturm can be climbed free of charge at any time.
  • "Schulze Ladencafé" is an institution in Borgholzhausen. This vendor is responsible for the nickname "honey cake town" and offers a large selection of delicious treats and pastries made using traditional craftsmanship.
  • The Ravensberg Castle - an outstanding landmark of the region - is a medieval castle and is considered one of the most important sights in the district of Gütersloh. It is situated on a hill and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside. It is also worth taking a look at the pretty cottage garden on a guided tour to the well house and the tower. Break tip: Ravensberg Castle is a great place to take a break.
  • The OWL ARENA in Halle Westfalen is a tennis stadium where the ATP grass tennis tournament "TERRA Wortmann Open" takes place every year.
  • The "Coffee Mill" viewpoint, whose building is shaped like a coffee mill, offers a spectacular view over Halle and the surrounding area.
