The highlight route takes you to the most beautiful sights in Bad Lippspringe on a 20 km route. Discover the unique nature reserve of the Lippeniederung between the picturesque spa town and the Paderborn district of Mastbruch. Marvel at the picturesque castle ruins, at the foot of which the Lippe rises, the idyllic Dedinger-Heide lake with numerous places to sit and rest, as well as the colorful garden show with the theme of floral splendor and forest idyll.
You can discover these highlights along the route:

Lippe lowlands nature reserve:

The "Lippeniederung between Bad Lippspringe and Mastbruch" nature reserve covers an area of around 160 hectares and stretches along both sides of a five-kilometre section of the River Lippe. In this area, the Lippe shows an interesting alternation between steep and flat banks. You can also still see the remains of the former rafting industry: ditches that were used to flood the meadows in order to irrigate them and fertilize them with the lime contained in the water.
The nature reserve is home to numerous plant and animal species, some of which are endangered. For example, a total of 25 dragonfly species have been recorded. In addition, the damp locations and water bodies are the habitat and breeding ground for numerous bird species, such as kingfishers, dippers, whitethroats and lapwings.

Bad Lippspringe castle ruins:

The castle is the undisputed landmark of the spa and bathing town of Lippspringe.
The castle, built by the Paderborn cathedral chapter, was first documented in 1312 and was finally abandoned in 1785 when it fell into disrepair.
The castle ruins stand at the foot of the Lippe spring in Arminius Park. It can only be visited from the outside.

Dedinger-Heide-See:

The Dedinger-Heide-See in Bad Lippspringe is a natural gem and the ideal place for recreation and leisure activities. Nestled in the idyllic landscape of the Teutoburg Forest, the lake offers numerous opportunities for walking, cycling and relaxing on the shore. Families can enjoy the adventure of the pirate ship playground, while anglers and nature lovers can take time out in the peaceful surroundings. The lake is also a perfect starting point for exploring the region. Whether for an active day or quiet moments in nature - the Dedinger-Heide-See offers something for everyone.

Gartenschau Bad Lippspringe:

For lovers of flowers, gardens and parks, there is a new top address: the Gartenschau Bad Lippspringe. This area emerged from the highly successful 2017 State Garden Show, which clearly exceeded visitor expectations. With the Bad Lippspringe Garden Show, the premium-class climatic health resort, idyllically situated between the Eggegebirge and Teutoburg Forest and on the edge of the Senne, has something special to offer. Under the motto "Floral splendor & forest idyll", there are impressive seas of flowers, various themed and model gardens, a completely newly staged forest and the romantic Mersmann ponds on 30 hectares. The garden show also offers a colorful program of events: Enchanting light objects at the Sparkassen-Waldleuchten in spring, artistic structures during the Sandwelten in summer and impressive sculptures at the Pumpkin Festival in fall. There are also regular yoga courses and open-air concerts on the Waldbühne stage between June and September. Various themed guided tours of the grounds are also offered on Sundays.
