The approx. 5 km long signposted hiking trail leads as a circular route through the entire historic animal park at Raesfeld Castle. The path leads from the castle past enchanted ponds, over small streams, through deep forests to open heath areas and lush green meadows.
At the end of the path, at the nature park house, the nature experience area attracts children in particular to a "natural" discovery tour.

The circular route starts at Nordkirchen Castle and leads around to the opposite side of the moat. The path is initially accompanied by the "Langer Teich" (Long Pond) before the Ottoteich (Otto Pond), the next body of water, awaits visitors just a few metres further on.
The path continues to the forester's lodge, where the landscape opens up to reveal views of the orchards. On 2 viewing platforms you can look out over the beautiful Herrental valley.
The "way back" first leads dead straight through a forest area past the palisade wall. It is worth taking a short detour to the Wellbrock spring. The path continues through a small heath area towards the nature park house, in the shade of which lies the nature experience area.

Directions & Parking facilities
The starting and end point for the walk through the historic zoo is Raesfeld Castle. Arrival by car is via the A 31 motorway. From the exit, the B 224 leads in the direction of Raesfeld. The castle is signposted from the entrance to the town.
Numerous free parking spaces are available at the Nature Park House in the immediate vicinity of Raesfeld Castle.
